The first Permablitz in 2018! Come out and help Zanzenberg Farm install needed features to their property.
What is a Permablitz? A permablitz is a great gathering of people that show up and work together to get a ton of work done in a short amount of time! This type of event is a great way to get your hands into something very cool and learn a ton about permaculture design and regenerative agriculture. No experience required… Just show up ready to have a great time!
There are a great number of projects we will be working on for this event. The focus of this “blitz” is to install a fruit and nut orchard/silvo pasture on about 2.7 acres, upgrade our current water (well) source, lay new above and below ground irrigation to pasture and have fun doing it!
A mix of pecans, mulberries, figs, persimmon, pomegranate, plum and apricot (155 trees) will be planted on roughly 1550′. In between each tree line will be sprinkled with Navaho Blackberries and seeds such as radishes, asparagus, kale. The alleys in between the tree lines will be broadcasted with native grass pasture mix and a cover crop mixture, then covered with mulch, hay, straw and leaves. Additionally, we will be upgrading the current water well with two 5500 g water storage tanks and tying those into the new irrigation. Above and below ground irrigation for trees, pasture and water for livestock will be installed.
Lunch, drinks and snacks will be served both days. Beer from Pint and Plow Brewery. Coffee. We are asking for a $10 donation to help cover food and beverage cost.
Camping is available for volunteers.
Please, no dogs!
We encourage you to bring your children but please make sure they are supervised.
